Armchair Critic

"Everybody always gave you what you wanted. You never had to work it was always there."

- Simple Plan

I wonder how big some people's head could grow until.
Some people just got to know their position and think before they comment on something which they themselves do not even have the capability to achieve.

There are people who grew up with everything given to them by their parents, you name it, watches, wallet, clothes, handbags, shoes, gadgets and sometimes even a car.
These people either are retarded or spastic to even comment about how others are spending their money when their own branded items are all given to them by their parents, lmao.

Seriously? that's really lame please. These people are what we call Armchair Critics.
Well, a word for these people.. You appear bright till you open your mouth. Get it?

Live, Love & Enjoy

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."

- Albert Einstein

Recently I've just purchased a Samsung NX100 dslr from Singapore which only costs me SGD 820.
It came in a package with free camera bag, flash, memory card, a jacket protector, lens filter and screen protector. It was very worth it.

Will replace this poor picture soon when I have the time to actually snap some photos of it.
The NX100 has the capability of recording video at 720p HD quality and of course the lens is interchangable.
In my opinion, the NX100 is much more user-friendlier than Canon or Nikon beginner dslr(s).
Furthermore, it has a built-in "Photoshop" and a feature called Beauty shot which is like really cool.

Apart from getting the NX100, if you know me well enough, you'll know that I always have the word food in my itinerary *smirks*

This cafe below serves a wide variety of bratwurst or more commonly known as sausages to us.
If I am not mistaken, the cafe is called Bratwurst Cafe. Their breakfast set reminds me of the breakfast I had during my Europe trips.

I'm not really in the blogging mood today, probably too much work to be done before my break.
So, I wish all of you good luck and have fun in the coming days.

U-Turn in Life

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forward."

 - Soren Kierkegaard

"royalty-free image taken from INMAGINE.COM"

I'm sure that many of us, at some point in life wished for a reset button or a chance to change the past.
However, the sad thing about life is there is no such thing.

Like the picture above, we can only move forward and there's no u-turn.
If we encounter an obstacle, we'll have to find a way around it and there's really no turning back.
I have met many people who wished they could change certain things they've done in the past and there are some who couldn't let go of the past, myself included.

For me, it's not about not being able to let go of the past. In fact, I've managed to let go of many things which I thought I wouldn't be able to.
I just wished I could change a part in my past and wouldn't lose a few precious friends of mine.
That's my only regret.. my regret of losing my friends. Friends who once stood strong by my side and came to my aid no matter the time and circumstances..

I was too dumb and blinded.. I can't blame anyone but myself for it.
It is because I believe that no one could make you do things without you allowing it in the first place.
We all have a choice; I had a choice; and I took the wrong one.

However, regret could only go so far.
Therefore, since we couldn't change the past, we could only learn from it and prevent the same mistake.
I am thankful I still have a few friends and I am also thankful I am able to meet new ones.

Anyway, just learn to move forward and let the past be a lesson learned.
Holding onto the past prevents one from moving forward.
Good luck and have fun to all~

Why Stress?

"Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency"

- Natalie Goldberg

"royalty-free image taken from INMAGINE.COM"

Why am I stress?
What am I stressing about?

Sometimes I asks myself these question and when I give it a sufficient amount of thought, I realized that even if I worry or stress about it, I can't do anything about it because the answer for the question in hand is not up to me.

I think it's silly to even stress about it because I have a backup plan, but why do I still stress if I have backup plan? To make it simple, my backup plan requires me to ask favors from others which personally I do not like owing favors to others.

Furthermore, asking favors from others will just make me think of silly stuff like they will look down on me.
It gives me a sense as though they do not trust me or is doubting whether I can return the favor that I owe them.

So it's back to the question of why stress?
I guess it's just the way our mind works. When we feel helpless about something, we just can't help stressing over it. Whatever it is, of course I hope for the best result and I will just have to try my best not to trouble others over my problem. It's just me I guess.

Little of This and That

"Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever."

- Nancy Kerrigan

There are time when you'll have a period of time where you doubt yourself or think that you do not measure up to a certain level of expectations.
Maybe I have been facing that uncertainties for the past one or two days but it's not that big of an issue. It's just some thoughts that's been going through my mind.
Perhaps that's the cause of my sleepless nights.

It's kind of troubling because this issue isn't supposed to happen in the first place.
It makes me feel like I am standing on a thin layer of ice that may break anytime.
Which is a kind of feeling I do not like..
Anyway, will update again soon and hopefully things will turn out to be better.

Sleepy Thoughts

"A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book."

- Irish Proverb

I'm falling asleep in office, but office hour is going to end in another 30 minutes.
I've been rather sleepy lately, it's most definitely due to me unable to sleep.
Have been sleeping rather late, most of the time around 1.30 - 2am.. for some unknown reason.

Anyway, I've been really happy about something which is going to happen, but I can't really say it out loud for some reason which I can't tell.
Although I really wish to share it with the world =x
but I'm happy enough that it is happening already.

However, I am still sleepy. So.. I'm going to slack for awhile, lol.
Good luck, have fun to all!

Smallville

"It isn't always about where your heart is.
It's about what you've done and what you're going to do."
- Sam Witmer as Davis Bloome

Smallville is coming to an end with their 10th season.
The series was great and it started out way back in 2001 where each episode is an individual story.
It then started to turn into a long story, a to-be-continued kind, which was even better and intense.

Anyway, it's kind of sad that this series is coming to an end.
I hope they will show that Clark Kent will finally learn how to fly! It's been 10 seasons now and the young Superman still doesn't knows how to fly, kinda ridiculous...
There's 22 episodes for this final season, it's out till 17 now, hope it'll not be disappointing.

End of March

"Some people need to learn to fuck off from the lives of the people they've hurt"

- A quote by me, eat that asshole.

Finally got that off my chest. Feeling a little better now, but if I could see that person trip on his own shoes would really make my day.

Sorry to start off with such strong words, lol. You'll just have to pardon my randomness.
This piece of crap has been disturbing a certain "part of my life" for two times now and it's getting on my nerves. Most of the time I'm cool with most of the things but once too many times will definitely hit my limit.

If there's a problem, we resolve it.
If there's a thorn under your skin, remove it.
It is that simple, and it is really so simple.

Anyway, consider this an update for March. Will update my blog again soon.
Hope my new design appeals to most of you, took me quite long to change it.
Good luck, have fun to all of you.

Just a short update

Feeling tired today after last night company's dinner.
Drank quite a few glasses of wine because my colleague kept asking me to drink.
Was not drunk but was damn sleepy.

This morning woke up with a head-load of migraine but tried to be okay.
Till now my head still hurts, and yes, I am still very sleepy.
Managed to pull myself though the day because of someone =)

Anyway, think I gotta stay back a little more to finish up my work.
Tomorrow is my last day before my long CNY break after all.
Can't wait for Saturday! Might feel sick right now but still can't help but feeling happy about Saturday.

Well, gonna sign off here. Hope you readers had a great week, cheers!

P.S. Expect lots of pictures of my holiday soon~ that is if I'm not too lazy to blog..

New Prospects

It's been 3 months since I joined Panasonic and things had turned out to be great.

The workplace is really nice and the people really grows onto you.
Although I'm youngest looking and also the youngest in age there, but it doesn't posed as a barrier.
In fact, I made a really understanding friend there. I guess it's because we sit next to each other, lol!

My boss had been great. Just last month, I had eaten 6 different Secret Recipe cakes! It's because there were 4 colleagues who's birthday falled on January and 2 on February.
In these 2 months plus, my boss had spent us all for lunch 3 times, but I didn't join in for the first two because I had to excuse myself. The recently lunch was at D'Italiane @ Jaya 33. My boss spent this 3rd lunch was specifically for the team I'm in because we had performed well for the project which was assigned to us.

I've decided stay in this company for quite a long duration because unlike my previous company, this company actually states the ranks which I could be promoted to. It's like, they've planned and paved the way for me. I just have to work for it. Furthermore, I have totally zero complain about the wage which I'm getting now. If I abide by my plan right since the start of this month, I may be getting 2 iPhones 3GS by May and also my car by October or November when my friend comes back from Singapore since I'm going to buy through his friend's dad.

Apart from some hiccups which occured recently, it has been a great year for me. Cheers!!

Safe trip friend!

This blog entry is dedicated to my friend and my role model in programming, In Ming. He is going abroad to further his studies in a few days time and I would like to wish him to have a safe trip there.

We met during college. In the start we weren’t really friends, maybe just acquaintances. However, as the course of our study progress, we became familiar with each other’s circle of friends and started to get to know each other better. At first, I didn’t know he’s interested in programming until one of the subject’s assignment brought me to the knowledge of it.

From then on, whenever I had a ‘coding-block’, I would consult him and discuss the matter and he never fails to point out what I am doing wrong. Then we attended a Java seminar together at KLCC and I got to know him a little better. I remember during our ride in the LRT heading towards KLCC in the morning we kept discussing about what program that has not exist yet that would make a revolution if it was created. Talks like this really feels good. You have a friend of similar interest and you talk about the possibilities, it really motivates you in that field of interest you’re sharing.

After graduating from college, I started working due to certain shits that happened, while he went on with his degree. I remember there was one time where I had this really huge ‘coding-block’ and I had to consult him. We met up at Starbucks SS2 and we discussed for hours and he found a solution. I was astonished, I kept reading and re-reading his codes because the solution was rather complicated, but most of all, I’ve learnt something new. Hence, I call him my teacher, lol.

He told me that he’s going abroad to further his studies for 1 year or maybe more than 2 years if he’s doing masters there. When it is possible, I hope I could visit him there and catch up. It’s really hard to find a friend with similar interest such as programming, so I’ll do my best to keep in touch. Take care man! and have a safe trip!!

Life Check

We’re another year older and perhaps another year wiser. Why wiser? because everyday is a new experience. Even reading a newspaper full of government crap is something new. If we read about something new each day for a year, it means we’ve learnt 365 new stuffs.

Even if we encountered difficult situations, it is still something new, in a way.

“When written in Chinese, the word ‘crisis’ is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity.” – John Fitzgerald Kennedy

I have learnt not much but not too little either. Leastwise I’ve learnt a tiny bit about the people around me, be it colleagues, friends or the crappy P1 WiMAX customer service officer.

To many people, New Year is just an excuse to fabricate a less-than-likely-to-be-achieved resolution (plentiful will never be achieved, fact). On the other hand, New Year to me is a new job prospect, with a different position, company, colleagues, experience, environment and most importantly salary figure – AND – not forgetting, knowledge!

Ironically, even though most New Year resolution is most likely never to be achieved but here I wish to make a resolution to mend dented relationships, be it family, friends or love. No man is an island. Therefore, it’s good to ensure that your relationship with the people you care are well nurtured =) I guess that’s all for now. Happy New Year all, cheers!

Cognizant

2012, a graphic intensive movie which with good sound system will leave a good dose of after-effect of deep thought in you. After the movie or rather, after most End-of-World themed movies, I would always wonder which date will the End-of-Days fall on. It’ll be really ironic if it falls on 1st of January.

By the way, 2012 has nothing to do with environmental pollution or stuff like that, it is caused by an external factor called the ‘largest solar flare in human history’ which causes a domino effect. First, is the core of the Earth heating up like oven, then caused the slow melting of the Earth’s crust from within, which triggers the crust to be ‘soft’ and hence, collapse.

In layman term, take a cookie (Earth’s crust), place it flat afloat in hot milk  (Earth’s core/mantle layer) which was initially just a warm milk, then you’ll see the cookie crumble =)

*Solar Flare*

courtesy of www.nasa.gov

I like to observe, literally. Observing always trigger thoughts to circulate in my mind. It intrigues me to observe the behavior and reaction of the people who are within my range of sight.

Every morning, I would leave my condo with my friend when he drops me to work. I would always take notice of the foreign workers who will always be walking alongside of the sidewalk to wherever their destination is. I would look at the traffic policemen, the drivers who are traversing from point A to point B, listen the radio casts who are talking. At the end of all that thinking, I know that all of us are –just people- insignificantly small in the eyes of our world leaders. To them, we’re just like seeds used to sow their fragrant economy.

The only part which I think is real in most 2012-like movies, is the part where if the End-of-Days is here and there’s an –Ark- we wouldn’t be worthy enough to be saved because we’re no one special and as said, insignificant. Those who will be included for salvation are the Top Notch in their fields such as Astrophysicists, Cosmologist, Biochemist and etc etc, and I don’t mean sports.

Foreseeable, are those illiterate group of people will be those running around shouting retarded remarks, creating chaos and reaping whatever that is within their reach. Ignorant who are easily fooled by government composed news will meet their makers too. Sad to say, but if sufficient common sense if applied, you’ll know what I mean.

It’s a sad scenario. However, if you’re non-religious, the most practical way to salvation is to be an Ace in your field and hope the government will include you in whichever self-preservation plan they’ve cooked up. On the other hand, if you’re religious, then all you have to do is believe in your Savior.

Going with the flow

I’ve come to a point where I think it is best for me to leave certain aspects of my life to just follow the flow of nature and let it take it’s own course.

I’m tired of having to teach certain person about attitude and behavior. It is without a doubt that making effort to teach something to a person who doesn’t want to listen or learn is indeed futile. Additionally, I’ll eventually stress myself because I would normally keep trying if I’m being opposed to.

However, I cannot deny the fact that it is useless trying any further because I know and it is obvious that the person I used to be happy with has changed and will not turn back...

Like the old saying goes “What is meant to be, will be”. I shall not debate or argue any further.

Vision of the Future

After watching a video by Microsoft regarding their
vision for the future. It got me pumped and reassured that
my career as a programmer is gonna take me a long way into the future.

This is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1haMQxyhjwk

From what used to be pixellated mainframe computers which uses
punch cards for input, it slowly evolved into keyboards which is
what we are using now today which enables me to easily share
this entry with the world! and soon, it will be a more advanced
touch sensitive surfaces.

*The Surface*

I believe, programming will be a career which will never extinct.
It is what drives us into the future.
The world now is basically computerized.
All businesses are practically utilizing the power harnessed from computers
to maximize efficiency and productivity.
No more the old paperworks and messy file cabinets.

*The old mainframe*

It's all now in Words document and system folders.
Think about it, everything we do now, computer plays a huge role in it.
The future is so exciting! Don't you think so? Cheers!

Uncharted waters... or so to say

I'm currently developing a program that integrates with a computer's existing webcam and sound system to develop a motion detector.
I've successfully created a screenshot saving program, or also known as, Desk Watch.
It captures a computer's screen view at every interval which is defined, launched during startup, and password protected.

Now, I'm going more in-depth into video capture.
However, due to the large file which video capturing creates, I would think it's wise to integrate motion sensing into my program as it will then only capture videos if there are any movements. It's redundant to capture still environment anyway.

Once I'm done with this program, it will open new doors of opportunities for my career path and allowing me to not only limit my choice to the software development industry but as well as the mass media industry.

And hopefully one day, I could advance my video/motion capture programs to facial/expression recognition programs, and it would lead me to the security/defense industry. Lol, dreaming XD but it's possible. Cheers!!

Final Destination 4: Death Trip 3D

Omg!! Final Destination in 3D!! Serious?!

I've been a huge fan of the Final Destination titles and this 3D better not be a let down!! This is gonna be a whole new level of experience. Imagine that!! Right in your face.

*Final Destination 4: Death Trip*

Plot:
"On what should have been a "typical day at the races" for McKinley Speedway, Nick O'Bannon (Bobby Campo) has a grisly premonition of a race car fatally crashing and sending debris into the stands, gruesomely killing his friends, and causing an overhang to collapse on him.

He awakens, not being able to shake the feeling of how real his vision appeared, he panics, and just in time, persuades the group of teenagers to leave the bleachers. Immediately afterward objects begin to fly into the public as his frightening dream turns into a tragic reality.

Unfortunately for Nick, alongside his girlfriend Lori (Shantel VanSanten) and her best friend Janet (Haley Webb), this is only the beginning. As the survivors begin to die one-by-one in even more terrifying ways than they had originally, Nick must figure out how to cheat Death once and for all before he too reaches his final destination." (Source: Wikipedia)

It's gonna be in cinema August 2009!!
It'll definitely be on my *must-watch* list!!

Coffee -- Does it really helps?

I've been a coffee drinker since I was 4.
Yea, it's no typo and you didn't see it wrong, Four.
My father's mom first introduced coffee to me and immediately I took a liking towards coffee over chocolate drink.
Ever since then, the number of cups of coffee I consume per day increase along with my age.
At 18, I'm taking in 6 to 8 cups of coffee per day.
However, I've reduced my coffee intake these days because my dear is watching my diet.
So, I'm only taking coffee early in the morning and late at night before I sleep.
I think it has became a routine for me to consume coffee early in the morning, as my mom was a heavy coffee drinker too but she's converted to a green tea-er.
Although coffee doesn't work in keeping me awake but it's what I have to drink to get use in the morning, and also to get me to sleep at night.
Yes, you've read it right, I can't sleep without coffee.

*The Temptation*

Furthermore, it is proven that coffee doesn't keep oneself awake. Check this article out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6422279.stm
If you're too lazy to read a bunch of text, I'll just copy and excerpt of it here:
"Those who drink a caffeinated drink first thing are no more alert than those who never consume one"

Another reason to consume more coffee is that coffee provides you with antioxidants.
What is antioxidants you ask? Well read this:
"Antioxidants help to fight against cancer and to give our bodies other beneficial health benefits. Most antioxidants are found in tomatoes, grains, fruits, and vegetables."

and coffee contains more antioxidants than many other drinks: (same website as above)
"What most people don’t know is that besides it rich taste it also has the ability to provide many healthful antioxidants than most other foods and drinks"

Well, hope this entry has helped out in whatever impression you've had about consuming coffee.

My first taste of manual... is a pain =.="

Today I had my first driving lesson in a manual car. Surprisingly I handled it quite smoothly, only 3 times the car brokedown.

1 time was when I first tried out the clutch.
1 time was when I was up the hill.
1 time was when I forgotten to press the clutch before I break.

What I hate is that there's no power steering, but it was still ok, not too hard to handle.
The clutch part was surprisingly easy. I thought it would be hard to do balancing as I've heard from many people that people normally fail in the 'bukit' part (slope), but to me, it was a piece of cake or maybe my instructor is good.

Well.. I've got 5 more lessons to go before my exam on 30th of this month. Hopefully I'll be able to get used to manual soon as I've drove AMT far too many times and got used to it, lol XD

Distance...

I'm beginning to realize that my friends who I treated them as best friends are becoming more distant..

They seldom joke, talk and even care less of my participation in their activities..
And the way they replies me nowadays are all one sentence then done, there's no humour in it like it used to be...
Just because that I'm in a relationship now doesn't mean that I have to be treated this way.. Does it mean that if I want to join them, I have to be single? Doesn't make sense to me..
Aren't friends supposed to accept each other through thick and thin? Aren't friends supposed to be supportive and lend a helping hand when we need them?
Or are friends just there when you are like them?
I don't understand.. I've always been a "once a friend, forever a friend" kind of person and I still am now.. but it seems that my friends are giving me the 'cold-shoulders'...
